Murra in MurraBuilding positive outcomes for isolated First Nations children, families, and the Gainmara Birrilee Preschool.

Gainmara Birrilee Preschool is located in Brewarrina, which is in north-western NSW, approximately 800 kilometres southwest of Brisbane and northwest of Sydney.

Gainmara Birrilee Preschool was established in 1974 as a Save the Children Fund preschool and was returned to the Brewarrina community in 1992 to support self-determination. The community vision for the Preschool is to promote Aboriginal culture and strengthen children’s awareness, pride, and connection to their Aboriginal culture and heritage.

Gainmara Birrilee Preschool and Contact worked together through the Murra in Murra initiative to find ways to further improve access to early intervention, health, wellbeing, and professional support programs that responded to the needs of remote Aboriginal children and their families connected with the Preschool.
